For those who are expecting to walk the trail in Harpers Ferry, we have modified the directions into 3 - 5km sections. The town and The Appalachian Trail. The extension along the C&O Canal Trail and when you cross the bridge you are in Marylnd. The next 5km section goes from the Trail Center out to the Civil War Cemetery and 1862 Surrender Site in Boliver Heights.
This event can be used for many of the special events books. Forts, Firehouses, Museums, Trails, Islands, Gristmills, Riverwalk, Historic Churches, Hollywood and whatever else might work for you. If you can find the reference please stamp the special event book. These trails were not laid out with those books in mind, they were laid out to give you a picture of this very Historic town. The downtown part of the walk is in Harpers Ferry National Historic Park. The park office has many books for sale.
The event runs from April 1, 2013 to December 31, 2013. Please be aware that during hurricane season with heavy rains that parts of the trail may be under water. Take a look at my pictures in the previous blog comments.
